Jennifer Morgan art (1)Living at Southside on Lamar is like having a festival in your house everyday. There are artists, musicians, photographers, writers, and more. For the first Lamar Street Festival, everyone enjoyed art, music, food, crafts, a kids zone and more.

Everyone was gathering arond the music, munching on food from food trucks and in booths and browsing for a bargain at the artists tents.

Everyone had a big smile on their face.

How could you not on a day filled with sunshine and happy people.

My tip list

1. If you want to eat healthy, look fro the Spiral Diner tent. It is right next to the tent that has a sign saying Jack is here with the iconic Jack Daniels logo. Something for everyone.

2. I love Jennifer Morgan’s Art so look for her work in a tent near the center.

3. GOOD DEEDS  you can buy an apple to honor a favorite teach and place a paper apple on the apple tree.

4, SWAG: Education is always a good thing, the booth for  Dallas Community College District gives out colored pencil sets. Fun for kids

5. Designing Dreams has a booth where you can decorate a pillow case with Singer sewing machines. They have created the cases in colorful patterns and are giving the completed cases to the homeless

6. I bought a leather bow tie (which I plan to use as a headband) made by an autistic artist

All kinds of things are happening until 10 pm A highlight is the Erykat Badu concert at 8:30. Be sure to come earlier to grab some grub and find a place to park.

Then you might want to stay on for a drink at Cedar Social, , Nylo Hotel(tip–they have valet parking) Absinthe (in Southside on Lamar).lamar street festival 2013 003
