Eisemann_TajExpress_04-09-17People often tell me how lucky I am to get so many interesting trips. Once I did it by being in the right place at the right time and merely raising my hand.

A friend who owned a travel agency invited me to go to a reception at a new Indian restaurant sponsored by Indian Tourism. I love India food and I had always wanted to get to India. This seemed like a good place to find out more.

Everyone else at the event was a travel agent.

When the speaker began his presentation, he asked everyone who had ever been to India to raise their hand. No one did. He raised his voice probably thinking no one had heard him. Everyone seemed to keep their hands in their lap.

Finally, he raised his voice and said, “How can you sell my country to your clients if you have never been there?”

Then he invited anyone who wanted to visit India to give him their card after the presentation.

As soon as he finished speaking, I rushed up to him. And a few months later,  he called to make plans for my trip.

The Indian Tourism representative was a marvelous host. He asked me what I was interested in.

He extended the journey to a three week trip for two and since my ex-husband was obsessed with Indian music, they arranged for us to go to local concerts in each city.

This amazing opportunity enhanced my interest in Indian culture.
