An avid fisherperson, soft-adventurer, and horseback rider, Naomi finds experiences around the world to complement her enjoyment of the outdoors, unusual destinations, offbeat subjects, and native cultures, as well as the comfort of spas, great food, and classic/luxury.
In pursuit of "soft" adventure, Naomi has fished among saltwater crocodiles in the Northern Territory of Australia; angled for many species in the lower US, Canada, and Alaska (including salmon sharks); was awed by being the Galapagos Islands; slogged through Ecuador's Amazon jungle; glacier-trekked in Alaska; ziptrekked in British Columbia (twice); got "wild" in Alberta's woods; sea kayaked; found out "whales have bad breath"; and learned that Jackson Hole's Teton Village has many adventures in the summer as well as winter.
Naomi taught journalism at UW-Madison, Wisconsin, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins; published her own magazine for the newspaper industry for ten years; and wrote a book about promotions and sales tools, before going into travel writing. Her stories appear in a variety of media (from Chicago suburbs to ESPNoutdoors) and she is an active member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA), and the North American Travel Journalists' Association (NATJA). When not traveling, Naomi enjoys cooking ethnic foods, especially Greek.
Her mottos? "I'll do anything for fishing!" and "I never met a fish I didn't like." Naomi can be reached at cre8vads@cheqnet.net
