Carol Muse Evans is an award-winning freelance writer and editor living in Alabama. Her work reflects her emphasis on family -- she is co-publisher with her husband, David, of Birmingham Parent (www.birminghamparent.com), where topics include everything from education and health to family travel. She also serves as its editor. Family travel topics have led Carol to work as an assistant editor at Go World Travel, an online travel publication that covers "the world." She and her family travel to destinations where they find out what is really good for families and children. Carol always says her two kids are her "best critics." She looks for fun and value, but of course, kids Hillary, 16, and Keith, 12, are merely looking for "fun." The author of one book, The Complete Guide to Alabama Weather (Seacoast Publishing, 1999), Carol is also a member of the National Federation of Press Women, Alabama Media Professionals and International Travel Media. She received the 2003 first place award for editing of special sections for Birmingham Family Times for Alabama Media Professionals and in the National Federation of Press Women's 2003 Communications Contest. She recently won the Travel Media award for the state of Alabama for promoting Alabama destinations. Carol is also a Journalism instructor for home schooling high school students and developed a course of study for them. She and her husband, David, home school their two children.
