Private wine cellars are debuting on the beach in Santa
Monica, making it more difficult than ever to leave a guest room at Shutters On
The Beach, the oceanfront hotel. Shutters' private wine cellars, which have
been installed in all guest rooms, offer a selection of 11 half bottles of fine
red and white wines, including Nicolas Feuillant Rose Brut, N.V.; Francis
Coppola, Chardonnay and Merlot, Napa Valley 97; B.V., Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa
Valley 96; and Taylor Fladgate, Port N.V. "There is very little about
Shutters that is typical, and our private wine cellars are no exception. They
elevate the minibar concept to a whole new level," said Armella Stepan,
general manager of the hotel. "Shutters is all about giving our discerning guests unique options
and variety rather than choosing from the standard fare." As a perfect accompaniment to the wines, Shutters' new
private wine cellars also offer gourmet snacks, such as Chocolate Covered
Espresso Beans, Mediterranean Garden Herb Crackers, Roasted Garlic Black Pepper
Dipping Pretzels, Raspberry Honey Mustard Pretzel Dip, and John Wm Macy's
Cheesesticks. Shutter's private wine cellars also offer other chilled
beverages, such as domestic and imported beers, Evian water, sparkling mineral
water, Gatorade, an assortment of sodas and juices, and of course, any special
requests a guest may have. Guest rooms at Shutters On The Beach also feature
billowy duvets and Frette linens on the bed, an oversized Jacuzzi bathtub with
sea salts, CD stereo, and a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. A member of
