Chocolate Lovers Unite for a Cause

On March 7th and 8th, more than 30 chocolatiers from the Dallas/Fort Worth region will participate in the fourth annual Chocolate Fest in Grapevine.  This fundraising event supports Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth, a United Way agency whose mission is to provide information and social services to the DFW Airport community and surrounding communities.

Chocolate Fest events:

March 7th, 7:00 p.m.  to 10:00 p.m.:  Guests can enjoy an evening under the stars while sampling a selection of chocolates and wines.  Local chocolatiers will be on hand to provide chocolate treats, candies and desserts. The evening event will take place at La Buena Vida Vineyards located on 416 E. College Street in Grapevine. Tickets for this event are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.

March 8th, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Chocolate lovers can spend a day eating chocolate and perusing pieces of art at the Palace Arts Center in Historic Downtown Grapevine located on 300 S. Main Street. Saturday's event will also feature art demonstrations and exhibits from local artisans.  Tickets, which include 10 chocolate samples, may be purchased in advance for $14 or $15 at the door.  Admittance for children ages seven and under is $5.  Entertainment will be provided at both events.

"Unfortunately, emerging situations and crises have increased during travel - including flight cancellations and delays," said Bruce Freeman, Executive Director of Travelers Aid D/FW. "As a result, somebody must be available to assist these folks looking for help…and that's what we're here to do. We appreciate everyone who comes out during Chocolate Fest to support Travelers Aid D/FW and all we do to help those in need."

Travelers Aid has assisted distressed passengers at the DFW International Airport since 1974. The agency was involved in assisting individuals stranded at the airport during 9/11 and helped evacuees from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Travelers Aid's services include crisis counseling and intervention; travelers assistance; car seat rental; runaway transfer supervision; SafePlace; translation services; military assistance; meet and assist services; TDD phones; information and referral; Western Union; and numerous additional services.
