Good Fortunes

By Madelyn Miller, the travelLady

I had the good fortune to be sent a goodie basket from this company. And anyone you gift from this company will be really glad. Known for their personalized gigantic gourmet fortune cookies, I am a big fan of their chocolate covered-oreo cookies.

My goodie basket arrived on a sweltering Dallas day and was carefully packed with reusable ice pouches. The Christmas decorated oreos, decadently frosted with snowmen made me believe that cold weather might come again some day—but in the meantime, I was happy to munch on these chocolate goodies and dream of cooler days.
I am not even going to tell you about the Gigantic Carmel Toffee with Chocolate Drizzle because I want it all for myself. If I eat it quickly, no one will even expect me to share.

They also make edible photo cookies—a perfect way to mark a wedding or anniversary or birthday or celebrate a graduation. I could think of a million excuses to eat these delicious treasures.

For weddings, birthdays or other special occasions, invitations in the guise of Gigantic Personalized Fortune Cookies make a lasting impression (even if the cookies do not last longer than a few immediate delicious bites)

You can actually say anything you want in a big way. And you can package it in traditional fortune cookie take out boxes, tins or other clever ways. (these people understand that presentation is everything).

Call for a catalogue and you will drool over the Easter fortune cookies frosted with carrots and bunnies, graduate cookies with small diplomas, Halloween fortune cookies with frosting ghosts and witches. Talk about fusion food—they have a fortune cookie for almost any holiday or occasion. The new baby oreos are also really cute and if you have a more serious need they can frost fortune cookies or Oreos with corporate logos.

These people have such a loyal following, they now even offer “cookie couture” women’s wear. Mine would have to be in a large size with an elastic waist if I ate much more of their goodies.

If you call them, a cookie counselor will answer the phone. I need daily therapy. And I need it right now.

Other Favorite Places to Order Food From

SWISS COLONY
There cheese and cookie boxes are legendary.
I have given a whole cocktail party by inviting friend and opening a box. Everyone brought wine and complimented me on what a smart hostess I was. I guess they really liked it because several people asked if it was an annual event.

Wow them with Cheesecake
I was wowed when someone sent me an adorable heart-shaped cheesecake frosted with the words “bon voyage.” I could not leave until I ate the whole thing. (actually, my neighbors were very happy to help me)
