World's Biggest Stars Converge On Jamaica's Resort Capital For Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest In Montego Bay, JULY 16-22Multiple Grammy Award Damian Marley, U.S. Hip-Hop Sensation 50 Cent, Rihanna, and Beenie Man Headline Week-long FestivalEdited by Madelyn Miller, the Travellady The 14th Annual Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest, billed as the biggest world-wide reggae event, will feature a stellar line-up of artistes at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex in Montego Bay, Jamaica, July 16-22.
Organizers believe that this year’s production, which will feature the biggest line-up of stars in the event’s history will be the best festival ever. “With the return of two of the world’s most sought after dancehall acts, Beenie Man and Bounty Killa along with international stars 50 Cent and Rihanna, we are confident patrons will witness an exciting event,” Executive Director Johnny Gourzong said. The festival kicks off on July 16 with the new Vibes Island Beach Party at Tropical Beach and heats up the following day, July 17 with the Mad Monday Street Party on Mobay’s Gloucester Avenue Hip Strip. On July 19 at Pier 1, Summerfest Productions will pay tribute with Top Ranking, highlighting the top vintage dancehall artistes. The action moves to Catherine Hall on July 20 with Stormfront – The Explosive Dancehall Night. The international fire blazes on July 21 with Ignition, featuring the island’s greatest and the world’s best climaxing on July 22 with The Summit, showcasing Jamaica’s and the world’s top performers at the pinnacle of their career. First staged in 1993, Reggae Sumfest quickly became the world’s premier reggae music event. The festival name was changed in 2001 to “Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest” when two major promoters, Summerfest Productions and Red Stripe, forged a partnership.
