The tour arranged by the Seattle-based Generations Touring Company (GTC) will begin in Lima where guests will board a short flight to Cuzco, the ancient Incan capital of Peru.

The first journey into the Soul Of Peru is at the ruins of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. These are among the few exciting temples and sights to be seen in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Local storytellers will guide small groups of grandparents, parents and kids through the fascinating history of the Sacred Valley and of the Incas with their intriguing tales.

The journey continues the next day at the towns of Chinchero and Ollaytatambo where families meet local weavers who will unravel history of the fine craft of traditional tapestry weaving. While in Chinchero visit a local Peruvian market of handicrafts and handmade textiles provides an opportunity to purchase some local crafts. Later in the evening while at Ollaytatambo, parents can take time to explore on their own. Relax and listen to traditional Peruvian flute music or take in the sights while the kids attend a private arts-and-crafts class at a local museum with their GTC SAGE.

Walk among the clouds. Over the next two days you can explore the ruins at Machu Picchu. Hike from the Choquesuysuy ruins along the Royal Trail in the footsteps of the Incas. Enjoy in the magnificent views while strolling through a cloud forest to the Quetzal Falls and then onto the watchtower of the Winayhuayna ruins. The climb continues onto the Gate of the Sun, Intipunku, to the ancient entrance to the sanctuary at Machu Picchu. Capture the picture perfect views of the citadel on film before descending to Aguas Calientes where you can relax in the local hot springs.

The last stop along this journey takes families and adventures up 11,500 feet to the little-known Incan ruins of Tipon. Here you will meet a Quechuan shaman who will perform a Feast of Giving ceremony. Share the afternoon with the local Quechua people and experience their daily routines. Whether playing soccer or sharing in traditional foods and customs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on this unique trip.

Families and adventures can stroll through Peru’s capital city upon returning to Lima. Visit the catacombs of the Cathedral of San Francisco or the Plaza de Armas. Enjoy live music and watch the changing of the guards at the presidential palace.
