Pianos and Pilates Edited

By Jennifer L. Price

Candlelight.  A classically trained pianist.  A one-of-a-kind piano from the world’s most exclusive piano showroom.  Limited space and advanced reservations required.  It sounds like a new fashionable gourmet restaurant, but it’s actually a pilates class.

A Body in Balance, an upscale Summerlin Pilates and Yoga studio, has teamed up with Bösendorfer Pianos of Las Vegas to offer an intimate and rejuvenating exercise class, “Pianos and Pilates.”  The class, offered every six weeks on a Thursday after dusk, is an hour-long class that offer Pilates enthusiasts the luxury of performing mat exercises in a pristine and intimate setting.

Pilates has long been recognized as a beneficial exercise regime that increases metabolism, promotes respiratory and circulatory function while improving bone density and muscle tone.  By combining the exercise with piano music, which “is very therapeutic” according to Evangelina Duke, Regional Manager of Bösendorfer Pianos of Las Vegas, Pianos and Pilates is a program “which, above all, promotes wellness of both the body and mind.”

The class is offered in the Ft. Appache Commons complex at 1215 South Fort Apache Road in Las Vegas.  Each class is $25.00 and will begin at 7:00 p.m.  For more information, dates, and to make advanced reservations (required, class size is limited to 12 people), please call (702)269-9100.
