Hangover Helpersby Madelyn Miller, the TravelLadyEvery year, millions of Americans make New Year's resolutions to improve their health and productivity, only to wake up on New Year's Day with a killer hangover. To help revelers ring in the New Year without sacrificing their wellness or productivity the next day, here are some tips.
New Year's Celebration Tips: Do:- Pace Yourself – It's easy to get wrapped up in the revelry of New Year's Eve. When drinking, pace yourself throughout the evening.
- Counteract Your Liquor – Be sure to drink water after each alcoholic beverage and eat food that is high in carbohydrates to help offset some of the effects of too much alcohol.
- Designate a Driver – Whether it's a friend or a local cab company, designate a responsible driver early in the evening to get you home safely later.
Don't: - Overdo It – Have fun, socialize, make new friends and enjoy the party – not just the booze.
STOP YOUR HANGOVER BEFORE IT STARTS
PRODUCTS THAT HELP- The Cure – If you do overindulge, drinking The Cure from Rescue Beverage Corporation at the end of your evening will alleviate hangover symptoms and let you wake up feeling like you stayed in. The Cure is available for purchase across the country and online at www.TheCureDrink.com .

SERIOUS DRINKERS WILL LIKE THIS SUGGESTION BEST
There are 3 factors that lead to hangovers:
1) Impurities 2) Sugar 3) Dehydration
Bambu Rum is the only rum that is quadruple distilled and triple filtered for unmatched purity. They claim to have 1/3 the impurities of Bacardi and 10 Cane according to Vinquiry (www.vinquiry.com)
Bambu with its low impurities, in a Mojito made with Splenda (in lieu of hangover-inducing sugar), coupled with drinking 8 oz of water between drinks, should ensure no hangover. I am sure there are volunteers to research this claim.
A MARTINI THAT IS JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDEREDHere's a martini that doesn't give you a hangover! CherryPharm by itself has been proven to reduce hangovers, as well! (why doesn't anyone invite me to those clinical trials?)
CherryPharm, an all-natural tart cherry juice, tastes just like cherry pie and has been proven in a clinical trial as an effective anti-inflammatory, reducing muscle pain and tension, as well as skin redness and rosacea. (sounds better than taking two aspirin) Sudies show that the health benefits of colorful fruit may be increased by at least one-third when combined with spirits.
For a great tasting and healthy CherryPharm Holiday Berry Martini, combine 2/3 cup vodka, 1/3 cup CherryPharm and 1/3 cup simple syrup, shake and pour into chilled glasses. There won't be any morning pain or soreness after this cocktail!
CherryPharm is available exclusively on www.cherrypharm.com

MAKEUP TIPS TO HIDE A HANGOVERThe holidays may be an excuse to drink bubbly but too much cheer can lead to dehydration, puffiness and a reddish skin tone. Follow these tips from Gene Juarez cosmetic experts to keep you looking as bright as the season! Useful tips to make your skin radiant: Tip 1: Brighten the skin with a luminescent bronzer that has a slight pinky/plum or peachy/golden tone to give a glow and put life back into the skin. Tip 2: Go lightly on concealers, foundations etc. Start with a smoothing foundation primer. A nice sheer moisture tint or light weight dewy finished foundation with a light bronzer brushed all over. Tip 3: Stay with floral hues like red, peach, pink or variations of those to fit your coloring. Tip 4: Before you go to bed put your liquid concealer in the refrigerator. Then in the morning you can apply a small amount under eyes to soothe and reduce discomfort of puffy eyes. Tip 5: Wet your makeup sponges with ice water, squeeze out excess water, apply and hold sponges over eyes to help decrease puffiness. Tip 6: Use a very small amount of preparation H on under-eye circles and puffiness. Yes, it will reduce swelling anywhere you apply it, including under the eyes.

A FEW SUGGESTIONS FROM HELPFUL FRIENDSI have not researched these or tried these hangover remedies, but they sound so interesting I had to share them.
Brian Boudreaux suggests," In the spirit of full disclosure my remedy isn't homemade (but I guess it could be), nor and I a bartender, chef or celebrity. That said, an Egg McMuffin and a Sprite have gotten me through some less-than-pleasant mornings.
IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO START THINKING ABOUT NEXT YEARBasic tips: Diet + Exercise = Wellness Maximus. Here are some tips from Wellness Coach Barbara Purcell, www.urbanrapturenyc.com - Eat your (small bowl) of Wheaties. Kick your day off with a low-carb breakfast and your metabolism will burn bright and burn fast.
- Eight full hours a night. We work hard and play, and your body needs to rest in order to recharge.
- Steer clear of office cookies and candies. We hit that 4pm slump, and it seems like the only thing that will get us to 5pm is another visit to the M&M jar at reception. Eat a piece of fruit instead and stop staring at the clock!
- Figure out a workout plan that you love. Not into the gym? Yoga is too hippy dippy? Figure out how you like to get your blood pumping, and stick with it 3-5 times a week. Find a buddy and kick butt together!
- Don't take the escalator. If you're too busy to go to the gym, get in the habit of taking the stairs and avoiding the bus for those ten-block trips.
- Eat in. Eating out spells caloric disaster. Try cooking at home 4 or 5 nights a week.. and head out for some yummy sushi or grilled tapas when the time comes.
- Stay limber. Stretch. Everyday.
- Stay healthy! Easier said than done, but prevention is the best medicine. It's hard to not to get distracted , but don't lose sight of a proper diet and regular exercise
