12 days of Christmas in Chocolate

By Madelyn Miller, the TravelLady

12. INTRODUCING a Chocolaty new Tradition

Chocolate Fruit cake. Not your average fruit cake. This rich, fudgy chocolate cake is filled with pecans, sweet cherries and chocolate chunks. A delicious new take on the traditional Christmas gift.  You can also get the moist, rich, chocolate Fruit Cake in "two-bite morsels." Each is chock full of pecans, chocolate chips and cherries.

11. Hawaiian Chocolate Brownies

On a recent month long trip, the only souvenir I allowed myself was four boxes of chocolate brownies from Big Island Candies. I carried them around to eight cities without opening one box. That's what I call willpower. My favorite chocoholic friends were really impressed with not just my willpower-but the incredible brownies. My favorite flavor is the chocolate covered Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Brownies-a sinfully delicious combination of macadamia nut brownies covered in rich milk chocolate. Eight 1.1 oz. individually wrapped brownie squares are gently placed in a tastefully decorated gold gift box. They have peanut butter, mint and coconut. But that is another story.

10. Chocolate Popcorn. Popcorn is doubly delicious and twice as healthy when covered with chocolate (isn't everything?). Enjoy it even more because now we know chocolate is good for your heart and sex life and popcorn has lots of fiber. I can't think of anything else this delicious and this healthy.

9. Jenn's Chocolate Mint Martinis.

A toast to the holidays is always better when it includes chocolate. And the mint adds just the right holiday twist. (the oomph comes from the vodka in these delicious pre-mixed cocktails)  Individual servings make it easy to share with friends. Or if you are feeling like scrooge-save them all for yourself .

8. Lady Bug Truffles.

So cute-and so scrumptious. The silky, light as-air chocolate truffle centers, covered in smooth Swiss crème and hand-decorated to look just like sweet little ladybugs.

7. New ChocoFlakes- milk or dark chocolate cornflakes, a bite size crispy and creamy bit of chocolate heaven.

To the tune of Jingle Bells:
"ChocoFlakes, ChocoFlakes- give you what it takes.
 Eat a handful everyday
 and you'll feel deliciously- OK!!!"

Not since those little guys caused such an uproar with their 'snap, crackle, and pop!' has there been such a frenzy over a crunchy cereal!  ChocoFlakes-  new bite size morsels of purely delectable creamy milk or rich dark chocolate covered cornflakes are the current rage at Panache Chocolatier, Kansas City's favorite chocolate shop.

6.  VISIONS OF SUGAR PLUMS

If you have visions of sugarplums, don't be distracted. This wonderful invention works for chocolate, loud noises, and helps you sleep on an airplane. I can't go anywhere without my Dreamhelmet-it is as essential as chocolate in my life.

5. Island Princess Chocolates

All my friends know I am a princess. But someone who really understands my passions sent me the Island Princess Deluxe Toffee Coated Macadamia Nuts covered in Luscious Milk Chocolate. Bet you can't eat just one. No one can resist-they even indicate the serving size is 4 pieces. I like the way the Hawaiians think.

4. How Sophisticated is your Chocolate Palate?

Premium chocolate has all the sophistication, allure and presence of fine wines. Unfortunately, most consumers don't think about chocolate beyond the bin at the supermarket check-out counter! Chocolate Sophisticate's mission is to educate consumers about the many varieties of cacao beans, variable cacao content, and the unique flavor they impart in super-premium chocolates grown from different regions around the world.

Try these chocolate tasting flights so you can figure what percentage of cacao you like and what region of beans you prefer.
