Dollywood Offers Music and Thrills For All
We
watched a number of entertaining shows highlighting the very best in
country, bluegrass, gospel and classic rock ‘n’ roll music throughout our
visit at Dollywood.
The Showstreet Palace featured the award-winning artist
James Rogers, whose show covered some of our favorite country tunes and
tossed in a few laughs as well. He also plays at the Smith Family Theater we
planned to visit later in the week.
Creative Artists & Heart Pumping Thrills
Craftsman’s
Valley in Dollywood features a number of extraordinary artists who hold
craft demonstration daily. It’s amazing to watch the artist create beautiful
glass blow art at the Rainbow glassblowing Factory. A Grist Mill, Old Flames
Candle shop, and a Blacksmith are just a few of the crafty sites to visit.
Thrills
wait just around the bend in Craftsman’s Valley. The only mountain top
roller coaster, the Tennessee Tornado takes riders into a spiral loop and
tunnel drop at speeds up 70mph. The fast and furious thrill of riding the
indoor roller coaster Blazing Fury will take you breath away. We had a wet
and wild time on Daredevil Falls, one of America’s highest and fastest water
rides that reaches speeds up to 50mph.
We
settled for watching the Kids stomp around America’s largest interactive
tree house filled with plenty of activities for them to explore while our
heart returned to normal. The little ones played in the jumping fountains
while the older kids battle each other with the water blasters in Bullfrog
Creek.
The
entertainment, rides, and food to feast on kept us amused all day during our
visit. Our last stop was at the Southern Gospel Music Hall and Museum
located at the front of the park where we discovered the roots of gospel
music. Around the corner in Thunderhead Gap is newest attraction, The
Thunderhead wooden roller coaster. The Thunderhead takes riders through 22
turns and 32 crossover’s at speeds up to 50mph. After the Thunderhead we had
enough fast paced fun for one day.
Comedy And Classic Country Hits
Our
evening entertainment included the comedy and classic country hits recalled
by the Smith Family. Located at stoplight #1, 2330 Parkway, across the
street from the Dinosaur Walk Museum is the Smith Family Theater. Adding a
bit of humor and music, The Smith Family presents an evening of family
entertainment worth seeing. The bonds between brothers, Charlie and Jim, and
Charlie’s son, Charlie Bob shine through during this entertaining show.
Complementing the soulful voices of the Smith Family are the voices of
Kristine Dambriro and Amanda Yancey. The Smith Family Show highlights the
best in Country, Bluegrass, Oldies, Gospel, and Comedy. Special guests
appear throughout the year like James Rogers who’ll join the Smith Family
for them for Christmas and New Years Extravaganza.
